--> Project Services and Expectations

  Project Services

Printing Press

      The Web Proofreading Project provides proofreading services for groups and individuals who desire greater accuracy and precision in the material they present on the Internet. The style of proofreading provided is largely fundamental, although the project proofreader is not averse to scrutinzing material for stylistic consistency as well as basic grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, etc...

      Semantically and thematically dense material is highly sought after by the project, for proofreading purposes, as it affords the greatest opportunity to the proofreader in terms of employing his analytical strengths.

  Expectations and Requirements

Books

      The requirements, demands, and expectations of the Web Proofreading Project are open to negotation and (re)consideration. However, for these purposes the proofreading engagements or projects can be divided into two general categories:

  • Pro bono examination and proofreading of texts
  •
  • Compensated proofreading of either non-discursive, technical material or material outside the considered interests of the proofreader (William Bruce).

  •       In either case, there is a general expectation that the proofread publication or material be allowed to be listed and linked on this page as a beneficiary of the project. The presence of corresponding links (and credit) on the benefiting web page/publication would be hoped for and desired. For the matter of compensated work, my expected fee would be the greater of two distinct amounts:

    When compensation is expected, I request...

      $.10   per error submitted and accepted

    or
      $.10   per 500 words read

          With full faith and credit, I leave it to the publisher/manager to determine which "errors" I submit to be genuine and in need of amelioration, and expect to be compensated for those and those only.
