--> Project History and Trajectory

  Project Conception and Genesis

Silver Certificate

The origins of the Web Proofreading Project were humble -- an unnecessary observation, actually, as the project remains humble. However, from such humble beginnings come great things, or at least great aspirations. I suspect the latter represents a better description of all these things, and those to come. Therefore, the project must take solace in the Beatitudes, and maybe a little deontological ethical theory.
(In case you have not caught on, don't take this particular page too seriously)

I here attempt to peel away the veneer of ages, and permit you to momentarily gaze into the past:

A bleak and unforgiving history awaits you...

"A Speculative Historiography of the Project"

    Pre-history: [Prehistoric era]:

        * Proofread material at The Proceedings of the Friesian School
        * Engaged in Sisyphean task of correction-writing at Wikipedia
        * Proofread material at Brazen Careerist
        * Indulged in ad hoc proofreading of other online material

    March 23, 2009: [Day 0]:

Genesis of Project in mind of founder

    March 24 - 30: [Week of Creation]:

Primitive web page laid out via adaptation of template HTML tags  (Creator's memory foundered)

    March 31 - Mid-April: [Ascendency]:

Conception of project and corresponding web page evolve to more advanced state of being

    Present: [Now]:

Project shines as a sterling example of goodness and light to the world

      -- Hopefully, fortune and glory

In all grim seriousness, I must shamefully admit that my intentions and purposes for the project are not without their mercenary component. Therefore, it is not to be imagined that this project will indefinintely entail proofreading at the sole expense of my time. However, I will consider it no great disappointment if the Web Proofreading Project's ultimate existence is naught but pro bono -- perhaps that being a more honorable end.

Into the shrouds, gentlemen...

[I couldn't help but put up the Friedrich painting -- Goodness, I am pretentious]
